Increase in measles cases

During a media conference on Monday, Health Minister Mark Holland expressed his deep concern about the global measles outbreak. He emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and ensuring that vaccinations are kept up-to-date to prevent the spread of the disease in Canada.
The Minister highlighted how vaccine hesitancy has contributed to the resurgence of illnesses that were once almost eradicated. He emphasized the need to prioritize health information based on scientific evidence rather than political considerations and urged the public to follow evidence-based health advice without bias.
As of February 17, the Public Health Agency of Canada has reported six domestic measles cases, with additional cases identified in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia.
